RURRENABAQUE, BOLIVIA
April 18 - 19 & 22 -23, 2005

Rurrenabaque doesn't have much to it.  It is primarily a town built around people getting ready to leave for, or getting back from Madidi, like us.  However, it is a quaint place on the banks of the Beni, at the base of some beautiful foothills.  The town also has a few nice restaurants which are good for killing some time.

The two nights we spent here, the first before leaving to Madidi, and the last because they cancelled our plane out, were spent at the Mosquito Bar, which is an outdoors tropical type of tourist trap bar, that is actually done pretty well and doesn't feel tourist trappy.  Lots of locals seem to hang out there too, which probably explained the good vibe.  Our waiter, a Peruvian named Marco was a nice kid who wanted to come to the States to DJ, but VISAs are too tough to get.  Its too bad, he seems like he would be a good addition to the US, and his English was already excellent.  On night two, we ran into Scott and Nori as well which was fun.  So, in all, Rurrenabaque was a good place to kill some time, and made us a lot less bummed that Amazonas cancelled our flight.
