| RESERVA BIOLOGICA CARARA, COSTA RICA January 4, 2005 Crocodiles!! Neither of us had ever seem a crocodile in real life, but that was about to change. Just outside of the Reserva, the Rio Tarcoles has a colony of crocodiles who hang out just under an overpassing bridge. These crteatures are so powerful and intimidating that you don't even feel entirely safe 25 feet above them on a concrete bridge. Nether of us could shake the feeling that we would be dead fast if the bridge happened to give way, which of course it was never going to. At any rate, they were incredible to see, and the pictures actually look pretty good. As for the Reserva, we didn't take a guide in, which is generally the way to go, but still saw several species of iguana, birds, monkeys, and even saw am 18 inch baby crocodile by the vabks of the Tarcoles as if flowed through the park. Definitely a great stop to make if you are in the area. |
