Minneapolis, Minnesota: The joyride continues. Just when camping was becoming our sleeping situation de jour, the city again descended upon us. Of course, a shower and shave sounded pretty good, but we did have a good run there. The drive in was nice and easy. We had gorgeous weather, great light, and there was zero traffic. The “Welcome To Minnesota” sign was the best of the trip, so you should definitely check out the photo. We stayed with the one and only Doug McGhee, who gave us the red carpet tour of the city like a pro; just the right mixture of cocktails and walking. We covered most of the downtown areas, including a very extensive skyway system, which is basically a raised and enclosed sidewalk system, with shops every two feet. It’s obviously unique, as well as a big advantage during Minneapolis winters. Things wrapped up with a late dinner at “King and I” a Thai restaurant worth stopping at if you’re in town. That, coupled with a morning’s run around the lake and through uptown felt like a pretty good tour. All in all, Minneapolis was both smaller and bigger than we thought. Quite a few large skyscrapers, and tons of fun things to do, but the people on the streets seemed pretty connected to their home and each other. We can’t say that for everywhere.
